Job Overview
The Commercial HVAC Service Journeyman is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC systems in commercial settings. This role requires in-depth knowledge and expertise in HVAC mechanics, as well as the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently. The candidate must be committed to providing exceptional service to clients while adhering to safety and compliance guidelines.
Responsibilities
- System Installation: Install new HVAC systems and replace parts as directed, ensuring optimal functionality and compliance with manufacturer guidelines.
- Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections and perform preventive maintenance on HVAC systems to ensure peak performance and longevity.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, identify faulty components, and implement effective solutions.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional service by responding to service calls in a timely manner and communicating effectively with clients.
- Compliance and Safety: Adhere to all company policies, industry standards, and local, state, and federal regulations. Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times.
- Documentation: Keep accurate records of service visits, installations, and inventory.
- Teamwork: Collaborate with service managers, engineers, and other service technicians for complex projects and technical guidance.
Skills / Experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an HVAC Technician, preferably in a commercial setting.
- HVAC experience a plus
- Strong understanding of HVAC operations, including air conditioning, heating, and ventilation.
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose system issues
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must be willing to work on-call rotation on weekends and after-hours for emergency repairs and maintenance
Pay: Based on Experience
Education/Qualifications (License or Certification)
- High School Diploma or Equivalence.
- Valid state Journeyman’s License in HVAC.
- EPA certification for handling refrigerants.
Physical & Mental Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. regularly and 75-80 lbs. occasionally.
- Type/speak English clearly.
- Must be able to read/write/spell.
- Must be able to understand and follow written instructions, and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Must have strong skills in prioritization, organization, multitasking, and stress management.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
